Star Instrument is proud to announce that it has won the First AMI system deployment project in Bangladesh (Valued at over 20 Million US Dollars)

On May 26th 2019, Shenzhen Star Instrument Co., Ltd. signed a contract valued at over 20 Million US Dollars with Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) and Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) in Dhaka. 

BPDB and DPDC, has commissioned Star Instrument to provide new smart meter infrastructure for deployment in capital city Dhaka (DPDC area), as well as in the cities of Comilla and Mymensingh (BPDB area). 

Star Instrument will supply new smart meters to these areas along with its Intelligent AMI system incorporating both MDMS and HES systems. Star Instrument will also set up the Master Information Centre (MIC) , Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC), Utility Vending Stations (UVS),  and operate the services on behalf of Utilities.

This is the first smart AMI project for Bangladesh and it demonstrates Star Instrument’s leading position in the smart power distribution industry.

Financial support for this project was provided by KfW bank of Germany. Technological consultants were selected from South Africa and Germany, both countries that are well known for their high technological and strict business requirements. 

This project is the culmination of one and a half years of intense effort and dedicated R&D focus. Star Instrument is proud to have been selected from the highly competitive group of fourteen companies that sought to procure this project. And the high recommendations that has received from the German and South African consultants illustrates well Star Instrument 's leading position in the provision of smart power distribution technology. 

Bangladesh is currently one of the fastest growing economies in the world. With a population of 164 million people and annual growth in GDP of approximately 6%, Bangladesh is a key Asian market. Accordingly, the Bangladeshi government has placed very strict requirements on its smart power grid equipment and management systems. It was Star Instrument's implementation of these requirements that was key to winning the project bid. Furthermore, Star Instrument has been committed to hiring local Bangladeshi engineers and workers and to providing the training, skills and technology that will better enable Bangladesh to implement and manage this new generation of smart power distribution systems technology from Star Instrument.
